Hobby Info for SOH & FriendsOnce every two weeks I will be posting about a hobby or craft from one of our members, or friends of SOH, or just one I find interesting. If you have a hobby or craft you want to share please email me with a description and some pictures. My email address is darksidesm@yahoo.com. Please put “Hobby Time” in the subject and your website logon name so I know who you are.

Thanks

This Hobby Time I will be sharing with you a model I built in high school. For those of you wandering about the garage, I am still working on the roof and hope to be finished for next time. Enjoy!!!

Click on "Read More...." directly below for rest of story.

(Thank you for clicking through!)

Now this model was part of a project I did in high school for a student design competition. We had to choose between a house, restaurant or museum and design a floor plan to fit on a barge. The barge was a big metal tub that was going to be put on a nearby lake (Lake Mead to be exact). I took second place of over one hundred students and got $400 in cash. I also got best of school. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. (The model isn’t as crooked as it seams in the pictures, must have been the angle of the camera)

For the walls and roof I used a condensed cardboard. I mixed white paint with sand to get the stucco finish. I printed, cut and clued on the windows and doors. For the shingles, I drew lines on sand paper with a black pen. You got to love the lighthouse!!!

Front of the house.

Front right angle.

Rear side angle.

Front of house again and yes that is a quarter sitting on top. The model is a 1/8th scale.

Thanks for reading.

For now this is Darkside^SOH^ signing off. Remember - I'd love to feature one of your hobbies real soon!
