SOH Charity
Invitational.
Who:
The Soldiers Of Honor
are assembling a council for the planning and implementation of a charitable
tournament to raise money for St.
Jude Children's Research Hospital. The council will consist of 1
person per represented team.
What:
A tournament to raise
money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is about children
with needs. This is about the Delta Force Community enlisting in the
battle against diseases in children and us working together to make a
difference.
The
donation per participating team will be a minimum of $100. If, for example
10 people on one team each donate $10 the minimum donation of $100 for that team
will be achieved.
Our minimum goal is to
have 5 corporate sponsors match the money that participating teams collectively
donate. To date we have not succeeded at drawing any corporate sponsors.
The
Council Of Teams has voted on the game type and game format for this tournament:
Blackhawk Down:Team Sabre
- Team King Of The Hill
When:
We
anticipate this tournament being played sometime in the first quarter of 2005.
We do hope to make this
worthy cause an annual fund raiser.
Where:
This will be an online
event. Servers used in this tournament will be determined by the Council
Of Teams.
Why:
Spend some time looking
over the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital web
site. Also read their "About
Us" info.
This is a most worthy
cause. St. Jude helps patients without regard to the family's ability to
pay. Children from all over the world are treated by St. Jude - so there
are no physical boundaries that would otherwise limit them.
It is good that we, the
Delta Force Community think outside of the box..... think outside of
ourselves..... and work together on a cause much greater than ourselves.
Message from Jennifer
Neal of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital:
On behalf of the
children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, I would like to thank all the
participants and sponsors for the Team SOH charity event. Events such as this,
are very unique and we are privileged to have such wonderful supporters.
St. Jude is often called the "hospital without walls," because our research is
shared freely across the world. Researchers continue working to find cures for
disease cancers, pediatric AIDS, and sickle cell. Since the doors opened in 1962
the survival rate of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the most common form of
childhood cancer, has increased from 4% to over 80%.
Danny Thomas's dream, the founder of St. Jude, was "No child should die in the
dawn of life." Because of generous donors like you and unique events like this,
we are getting closer everyday. Thank you for your support and keeping Danny's
dream alive.

Background Information:
Since organizing as a team on November 18,
2002 the Soldiers Of Honor have worked very hard to build a successful team in
the Delta Force Community. Our peers will attest to the fact that we have
achieved a fair level of success and influence. With influence comes
responsibility. Having accomplished the above we still find that at the
end of the day our labor in building a successful team can seem somewhat
self-serving. With this in mind we set our sights on what we have coined
"a cause greater than ourselves". It is our desire to put our influence
and success to work. We are in search of teams in the Delta Force
Community to collaborate with us in this endeavor.
On
January 3, 2004 The Soldiers Of Honor discussed creating a charitable tournament
within the Delta Force Community. We researched needy organizations and
unanimously agreed to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. We
contacted St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and have spoke to them several
times.
Our team discussed having participants donate to enroll
in said tournament. We discussed enlisting corporate sponsors to match
against funds raised by our tournament and to donate product and or services to
individuals that achieve certain goals in the tournament. We are in the
process of enlisting corporate sponsors at this time. Please bookmark us
to stay up to date with this topic as we proceed. We would like to make
this an annual fund raising event.
We are looking for teams within the Delta Force
Community to help us fight the battle against diseases in children. We are
firm in our belief that the Delta Force Community will rise to the occasion and
band with us in the battle.
Any
individuals or teams interested in participating can send their inquiry to
Covert1^SOH^ at
Covert1@teamsoh.com
Potential corporate sponsors and other sponsor types may send inquiries to the
same e-mail address as well.
