SOH Charity Invitational
Who:
The Soldiers Of Honor are assembling a council for the planning and implementation of a charitable tournament to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. The council will consist of 1 person per represented team.
What:
A tournament to raise money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. This is about children with needs. This is about the Delta Force Community enlisting in the battle against diseases in children and us working together to make a difference.
The donation per team will be a minimum of $100. If, for example 10 people on one team each donate $10 the minimum donation of $100 for that team will be achieved.
Our minimum goal is to have 5 corporate sponsors match the money that participating teams collectively donate.
The Council Of Teams has voted on the game type and game format for this tournament:
Blackhawk Down:Team Sabre - Team King Of The Hill
When:
We anticipate this tournament being played sometime in the first quarter of 2005.
We do hope to make this worthy cause an annual fund raiser.
Where:
This will be an online event. Servers used in this tournament will be determined by the Council Of Teams.
Why:
Spend some time looking over the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital web site. Also read their "About Us" info.
This is a most worthy cause. St. Jude helps patients without regard to the family's ability to pay. Children from all over the world are treated by St. Jude - so there are no physical boundaries that would otherwise limit them.
It is good that we, the Delta Force Community think outside of the box..... think outside of ourselves..... and work together on a cause much greater than ourselves.
Message from Jennifer Neal of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital:
On behalf of the
children of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, I would like to thank all the
participants and sponsors for the Team SOH charity event. Events such as this,
are very unique and we are privileged to have such wonderful supporters.
St. Jude is often called the "hospital without walls," because our research is
shared freely across the world. Researchers continue working to find cures for
disease cancers, pediatric AIDS, and sickle cell. Since the doors opened in 1962
the survival rate of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL), the most common form of
childhood cancer, has increased from 4% to over 80%.
Danny Thomas's dream, the founder of St. Jude, was "No child should die in the
dawn of life." Because of generous donors like you and unique events like this,
we are getting closer everyday. Thank you for your support and keeping Danny's
dream alive.

Q8: I'm not sure my team can raise the $100 donation to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to enter this event. Do you have any advice?
A8: We have had one or two teams ask this question. In both cases the individuals asking the question stated they would be fairly close to raising the $100 within their team but weren't certain they could raise all of the $100. One of the important factors in this invitational is that we will be approaching potential corporate sponsors and asking them to match the money that our teams within the Delta Force Community collectively raise. Our collective funds will be the "multiplier". When we initially drew plans for this event we thought that $100 would be fairly achievable when split between 8, 10 or more members of a team. In the even that your team is certain that it can't raise all of the $100 donation - please send an e-mail to either Mustang@teamsoh.com or Covert1@teamsoh.com and we will see if we can match you up with a donor to meet the $100 donation entry fee. Obviously we can't make any promises - but we will try to see if we can help.
Q9: Is this a USA only event?
A9: By no means should anyone perceive this as a USA only event. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital has an international outreach. For more details click HERE. Jennifer Neal of St. Jude said it very well: "St. Jude is often called the "hospital without walls," because our research is shared freely across the world." (end quote)
Neither the Delta Force Community or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital are confined to USA only.
Q10: Our team has members outside of the USA. How should we calculate their donation?
A10: The minimum donation per team is $100 USD (US Dollars). Yahoo has an excellent online currency converter - see it HERE. We ask that all dollars are converted to USD.
Example 1: $100 USD = $129.94 CAD (Canadian Dollars). This would be an example for an all Canadian team.
Example 2: Team A has 3 members in Canada and 7 in the USA. Dividing the team's $100 USD donation between 10 members the 7 USA members would each donate $10 USD and their 3 Canadian members would donate $13 CAD or $10 USD.
Q11: How do you suggest that teams collect their donations?
A11: We are asking that each team select one person to be the "champion" regarding collecting their team's donation. Members on each team should send individual donations to their champion. Their champion should fill out the "Donation Form" and send one check per instructions in the donation form.
