This letter is to inform you that Tony Mannon and SOH are authorized to receive donations on behalf of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in conjunction with a new fundraising event. 

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is the first institution established for the sole purpose of conducting basic and clinical research in catastrophic childhood illnesses.  When the Hospital opened its doors in 1962, the survival rate for children diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia, for instance, was less than five percent.  Today, the disease-free survival figure for children in long-term remission (no sign of disease) has grown to over 80%.  Procedures that originated at St. Jude Hospital are now being used to treat children throughout the United States and other parts of the world.

St. Jude Hospital is non-sectarian, interracial, and open to patients admitted by physician referral and whose disease is under study at the institution.  Children at St. Jude Hospital are admitted and treated without regard for their families’ ability to pay.

Thanks to the commitment made by volunteers from SOH and the cooperation of businesses and people like you, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has been able to make great progress in the research and treatment of catastrophic childhood disease.  With continued support, we will someday win the battle against all forms of cancer and blood disorders.
